Knox Dining brings wholesome food and healthy vibes to the heart of Surfers Paradise
Whilst there are plenty of dining options in bustling Surfers Paradise, eateries with a health-conscious wholefoods ethos are few and far between. On Friday July 14, this gap (along with the gap in your stomach) will be filled when Knox Dining opens its doors in the new-look Circle on Cavill precinct. Local hospitality duo, brothers Greg and Brad Turvey, are behind the new Surfers Paradise hang, which offers a refined spin on wholesome food, delivered with a subtle dusting of Asian flavours.
For now, Knox Dining is open for breakfast and lunch, with share-style dinners due to launch in the coming months. The impressive day-time menu caters for the intolerances, as well the vegan and vegetarian crowds – but the Turvey brothers are sure to not draw the line there. Comfort food is a big element – just expect a bit of a wholesome twist. You can have some guilt-free fun with the gluten-free buckwheat and organic soy protein hot cakes served with adzuki cream, roasted almond, banana, coconut syrup and a matcha dusting. There’s also a pretty unique take on a ‘breakfast danish’, which is basically free-range scrambled eggs wrapped in Tasmanian smoked salmon atop a flaky sourdough Danish. Or, keep it left of centre with a 64-degree sous vide gratin egg in a dukkah-spiced half avocado, topped with torched Swiss gruyere cheese on a bed of raw broccoli slaw. Intriguing, right?
Come lunch time, you’ll find everything from crispy fried chicken breast on curried quinoa and asparagus with dehydrated leeks, through to octopus fritters with a chilli-tomato dip, Vietnamese noodles, and a fresh spread of salads. Adjoining Knox is its takeaway space called Lil Ox, which is where you’ll find plenty of fresh juices, smoothies, raw cakes, Toby’s Estate coffee and on-the-go eats. The 115-seat space is a stylish new addition to the heart of Circle of Cavil – it’s kind of industrial meets Scandinavian, with subtle hits of brass, touches of gold, and splashes of greenery. Inside, the wall tiles are stripped back in a fancy manner to make room for a cool neon sign that reads ‘this must be the place’, whilst the outside doubles as both a cosy winter hub and a breezy summer hang. It’s a refreshing vibe, both from the fit-out and the menu – and we’re pretty sure Surfers Paradise locals and workers are doing a little happy dance right now.
