Jimmy Wah’s brings Vietnamese to Burleigh Heads

Filling the space left by The Funky Olive in Burleigh Heads, Jimmy Wah’s is set to open its doors on Wednesday June 8 and will dish up fresh and fragrant Vietnamese fare. The new venue is the latest venture from Jake Cooley (formerly Social Eating House + Bar) and Shelly Greaves (the former owner of Verve in Broadbeach).

Treat your tastebuds to a little culinary adventure at Jimmy Wah’s with betel leaves loaded with tender seared beef skirt, delicate ribbons of kingfish sashimi, aromatic phos and unbelievably crispy spring rolls. The modern Asian menu is packed full of authentic flavours and techniques head chef and co-owner Jake picked up on his travels abroad and strikes the perfect balance between salty, sweet and sour, a hallmark of Vietnamese cuisine. Designed for grazing and sharing, the mouth-watering menu is predominantly dairy-free and gluten-free and can be made vegetarian upon request. If you simply can’t decide (we don’t blame you), simply say “feed me” and thy wish will be granted.

Named after the local watering hole in the 1987 Robin Williams flick Good Morning, Vietnam, Jimmy Wah’s has completely transformed the space to create a slick modern venue befitting its location. A soundtrack featuring jams from the 1960s and ’70s gives a lighthearted nod to the era while on the far wall, the well-stocked bar beckons with a succinct but expertly curated selection of wines, craft beers and fanciful cocktails that are inspired by the food, think boozy bubble teas and plenty of spiced rum. Adding an exciting element to Burleigh’s culinary melting pot, Jimmy Wah’s is open for lunch and dinner.
