George Calombaris’ Jimmy Grants has landed at The Kitchens

Are we dreaming? Because this feels like a dream – a Greek street-food dream. Well, dear foodie friends, the day we’ve all been waiting for has finally come – George Calombaris’ Jimmy Grants is now officially open at The Kitchens.

When we first dropped the news to the Gold Coast back in August that George Calombaris was bringing his popular Greek eatery Jimmy Grants to The Kitchens, you all went bonkers, and rightly so. Fast forward a few long months (seriously, it feels like a lifetime when you’re waiting for something like this!) and the time has come – you no longer have to venture to Melbourne to taste the goodness of Jimmy Grants, the tasty slow-cooked souvas are here and they’re hot, ready and waiting for you wrap your lips around! Why the excitement? Well, there’s just something about the way Jimmy Grants fills soft pita bread with delicious slow-cooked meats, then adds a dollop of creamy mustard aioli and wraps it all up with perfectly seasoned chips inside – the end result is a truly mouth-watering Greek street-food masterpiece.

Jimmy Grants specialises in souvas (souvlakis/yiros), with the signature Mr Papadopoulos souva with slow-cooked lamb, the Nonna Maria with succulent chicken and The Patris with prawns, honey, mayo and cucumber, all on the Gold Coast menu. Alongside the classics, a few new items have been created especially for Robina, including the Super Paradise Souva – Jimmy’s own version of surf and turf – plus special cocktails and new flavours of the eatery’s famous loukoumades (Greek doughnuts). If meat is your thing, you can get stuck into a plate of slow-roasted lamb shoulder or chicken straight from the spit with tzaziki and pita bread. Arrive hungry, because you won’t be able to pass up the amazing sides and salads – the steamed Jimmy Dimmy and saganaki soldiers with peppered fig jam will go down just nicely with your tasty souva. Just so you know, you can’t leave Jimmy Grants without having the chips – they’re topped with garlic oil, feta and oregano and they’re magical. We’re pretty chuffed that Jimmy Grants decided to head north, luckily it’s in good company with some pretty impressive neighbours at The Kitchens.

The Weekend Edition is offering one lucky reader and five friends the chance to win an exclusive meet and greet with George Calombaris and dinner at the new Jimmy Grants Robina on Friday November 11. Plus, six runners-up will also win a $40 Jimmy Grants voucher for a feast of their own! Sound good? Find all the details here.
