If you’re on a diet and have zero self control, you’d best look away – we’re just giving you a friendly warning. Though, if you’re willing to live your best life and forget that summer bod for a sugar-induced moment of pleasure, then keep your eyes firmly on this page while we introduce you to Infinite Dessert Bar.

When a venue has a pink neon sign that reads ‘choose your poison’ on its wall, you know you’re in for a decadent time. Friday September 28 marked the opening of the Gold Coast’s newest sweet spot, Infinite Dessert Bar in Palm Beach – a hidden haven where you’ll find two of life’s greatest indulgences, sugar and booze, under one cavernous roof. The Nineteenth Avenue venue has come to life at the hands of local lads Kye Sheehan and Matthew Hartnett, who set out to create a dining space that was dedicated solely to over-the-top desserts and theatrical cocktails – without a savoury morsel in sight.

The duo has enlisted ex-Zumbo Sydney chef and patissier Aurelio Gulino to oversee the Infinite Dessert Bar kitchen. The sweets wizard has curated a boundary-pushing menu of desserts that will simultaneously leave your mouth watering and your mind boggling. The signature is The 24K – a dark-chocolate dome filled with blood-orange mousse and whisky, served with salted-caramel ice-cream and passionfruit ‘caviar’ beads. For a moody delight, the Mist in the Woods dish sees a vibrant red glacage-covered apple filled with kirsch-hinted ganache, black-forest mousse and sour morello-cherry compote, delicately served with dark-chocolate ice-cream. While the main menu is rounded out by the likes of a flaming creme brulee, a fairy floss-topped cookie stack and caramel-doused apple-crumble hotcakes, the plant-based sweeties are also catered for with a full vegan menu – think olive oil and cocoa tarts filled with hazelnut and lashing of creamy coconut ice-cream. The extensive list of fancy treats is underscored by a series of intriguing cocktails, from the sweet and creamy to the light and fruity – all designed to make a dramatic entrance to your table.
