New coffee cave Industrial Cafe brings specialty caffeine to the Burleigh backstreets

It’s easy to get caught up in the daily routine of driving along the same roads, passing by the same shops and taking the same route home. You know what that means? You miss all the cool things that happen off the beaten track … but that’s where we come in! This time it’s about a new hidden coffee cave (yes, a cave) in the Burleigh Heads industrial precinct  – and it’s worth turning off Bermuda Street for.

Southern locals may notice a familiar face behind the coffee machine at Industrial Cafe – this new caffeine-focussed nook is the latest venture from Jacqui Scorgie, the former owner of Palm Beach cafe, Department of Coffee, which unfortunately closed its doors late last year. Armed with beans from Melbourne’s esteemed Proud Mary, Jacqui is back in action to bring specialty coffee to the Burleigh Heads industrial precinct six days a week.

This hip coffee den features polished concrete from floor to roof, with a rounded ceiling giving it a cave-like appearance. While it’s dark and moody inside, you can opt to nab a stool out in the fresh air and admire the succulents while you sip your morning brew. There’s a small selection of food on offer, with the no-fuss menu dotted with simple eats from house-made granola cups and fresh baked muffins through to vegan slices and balls, as well as toasted sandwiches.
