Hudson & Rosie’s Table brings coffee and bites to Highland Park

Nestled within Highland Park Shopping Plaza on Alexander Drive, Hudson & Rosie’s Table is dishing up a bounty of brews and chews from a bright, light and breezy new cafe. The pretty new eatery opened its doors on Friday March 19, much to the delight of eager locals who braved the wild weather to take a peek over the weekend. Here’s what you need to know about Hudson & Rosie’s Table …

Hudson & Rosie’s Table is a breath of fresh air for the Highland Park suburban complex. The leafy new digs is the work of husband-and-wife duo Graham and Kate Bennet, who also brought us Mudjira Village Eatery in Mudgeeraba. Although their first baby keeps them pretty busy, they couldn’t help but notice there was a gap in the market for their particular brand of brews and belly-fillers a little further north and so they began scouting a space. The former carvery has been completely gutted and transformed with custom artwork adorning the walls, plants suspended from the ceiling and clustered around the expansive timber deck, rattan table settings and a pretty pink coffee machine taking pride of place. Before you go thinking she’s just a pretty face, Hudson & Rosie’s has assembled a team who are equally as passionate about hospitality as they are – from the chefs to the baristas and floor staff.

The menu meanders from morning munchies such as house-made bircher and acai bowls through to more substantial bites such as the melt-in-your-mouth brisket burger. If you like it hot – and we mean hot – wrap your mitts around the hilariously named ‘Reap-r a new one‘, which is loaded with fried-chicken, Carolina Reaper hot sauce, Kewpie-slaw served on a toasted milk bun with crispy chips. Each dish that graces the menu has been created from scratch to really push the flavour profiles beyond what is expected. The tofu scramble, for example, is served on a crispy potato hash that is loaded with spices to give it a little extra pop. The menu is designed to be predominantly plant-based with the option to add protein and sides, if you wish. The caffeinated brews are by Gabriel Coffee and offers a dark roast that packs a punch. The cold-pressed juice is all made by Graham’s own hands and there’s a tasty organic soda, which is made fresh-to-order.
