House of Brews brings American barbecue to Surfers Paradise

Lovers of beer are well and truly spoilt for choice at Surfers Paradise’s House of Brews with 32 sorts of suds from pale ales to stouts to wet your whistle.

As you might deduct from its name, House of Brews pays homage to the humble hops and offers a huge assortment of local and international beers on tap ranging from mainstream brews and bitters to craft varieties including James Squire 50 Lashes Pale Ale, Blue Moon Belgian White and little Creatures IPA, to single out a few. If a causal bite and a beer is on the agenda, grab a spot at the bar overlooking Orchid Avenue and pick at a plate (or three) of the Porky Rinds; roasted crackling pork rinds with apple cider compote and dried apple rings, spicy buffalo wings or take on the epic tower of onion rings that gives the Leaning Tower of Pisa a run for its money. The American-inspired eatery and taphouse also offers a plentiful menu of meats and mains including brisket, burgers and fully loaded parmiganas in a delectable range of flavours. If carbohydrates aren’t high on your list of concerns, there are also six different types of fries, each more decadent than its predecessor.

House of Brews is the brainchild of enigmatic brothers Sacha, Damien and Ben Kanaghines who also operate Nonna’s restaurant at Harbour Town. A nod to Los Angeles’ House of Blues, the venue will feature live blues on the weekends and there are plans to open a rooftop bar in coming weeks. If brews, blues and barbecue sounds like a recipe for an afternoon well spent, see our Stumble Guide for opening times.

The Stumble Guide is our comprehensive Gold Coast dining guide with more than 870 places to eat, drink, shop and play.
