If you’re in need of a little pick-me-up, stop by Hot Shott in Main Beach and enjoy an espresso from an edible waffle cone cup. Yes, you read right, the cup is edible. What a time to be alive!

Hot Shott is the latest addition to Tedder Avenue but before you go thinking it’s just another cafe churning out the same ol’ eggs benny, you should know they do things a little differently here. With a background in fine dining, Kellie Rolfe and Jenna Finch have brought a touch of sophistication to your morning meal but have injected a side of whimsy. So rather than your run-of-the-mill smoked salmon, Hot Shott dishes up a rainbow trout on sourdough that arrives at your table under a dome of vapour that billows out as you lift the lid. Even the aioli has its own tiny cloches to infuse the sauce with a slightly smoky flavour.

Despite the fact that the menu is categorised into breakfast and lunch, you can have anything at any time of the day – so if you feel like truffle, parmesan and rosemary duck fat fries for breakfast, you can do just that. In fact, the ladies encourage that kind of reckless abandon for culinary convention. Just be sure to order yourself a Hot Shott coffee but be warned, once you’ve experienced a chocolate-lined waffle cone cup it’s pretty hard to return to a regular cup.
