Seek and you shall find – Here brings coffee and baked goods to Burleigh’s backstreets
When it comes to coffee, everybody has their place. Whether it’s a cheeky pitstop on the way to work because you can nab a park out the front, a mid-morning pick-me-up or a liquid lunch to get you through the day, coffee is indeed life. If you happen to be in or around Burleigh Heads and on the hunt for a brew, say hello to Here – a quaint little nook that’s here to brighten your day.
There’s something extra special about hidden gems that are tucked away from main thoroughfares but are still bustling with people. What they lack in convenience, they more than make-up for in loyalty and quality, because after all, there’s a reason people commit to the detour. Well, allow us to let you in on a secret … those who venture down the end of Rothcote Court in Burleigh’s industrial corridor in search of fresh brews and sweet treats will be rewarded with a pretty new place that is a guaranteed to become a strong contender for your new morning sip. The light and bright new nook is hiding underneath Zero 9 Constructions‘ headquarters and is the handiwork of Ryan and Karley McAlpin. The former gym has been completely gutted (and extensively aired) to feature a sleek fitout complete with a mint-coloured La Marzocco coffee machine, light-timber panelling and bright white kit-kat tiles. As you step through the door, you’re greeted with a self-fulfilling floor decal that says ‘happy to be here’.
Okay, enough about tiles and pretty palettes, we know you’re here for the coffee so we’ll cut to the chase. Here features fellow Burleigh locals Social Espresso alongside a cabinet brimming with grab-and-go treats from Currumbin’s Fuel Bakehouse – think sugar-rolled cruffins, almond-topped croissants and jam-filled doughnuts. If you’re a regular at Burleigh’s Easy Tiger you’ll see a familiar face with Ash Gatgens behind the machine. Here is not a detour on your way to somewhere, it’s an investment in your future caffeinated happiness.
