Tapas and cocktails on the menu at Burleigh’s Harvest Moon
Change is in the air at Harvest Moon in Burleigh Heads starting with a new Middle Eastern-infused menu, a new bar area and tapas on weekends.
For the past month, Burleigh’s hidden cafe, Harvest Moon, has been quietly revamping its offering at the hands of new owners Diana and Jason Narin. Upon collecting the keys, the husband and wife duo set out to create a space that reflected the pair’s unique backgrounds and promptly began adding some Middle Eastern influences to the food menu, a nod to Diana’s heritage, and created a new bar area that is stocked with an extensive selection of wines from Margaret River, Jason’s hometown. The venue’s popular goodmornin’ menu offers traditional breakfast favourites including the staple smashed avocado alongside some more exotic creations such as za’atar on sourdough and baked eggs. The mixed grill, available from 11:00 am, offers a small taste of the venue’s new tapas menu and contains a hefty pile of chicken, lamb and kafta skewers, za’atar pita and a colourful side salad.
As the sun sets on the working week, Harvest Moon transforms into a delightfully quaint tapas bar complete with ambient mood lighting and live music on Fridays. Munch on a selection of flavourful house-made dips with crunchy pita, sumac prawns that offer more than a hint of spice and haloumi with preserve lemon cigars as you make your way through the extensive wine list. Harvest Moon also offers Stone & Wood and Burleigh Brewing’s BIGHEAD on tap alongside some devilishly delicious cold-pressed juice cocktails, espresso martinis and caramel choc-tinis. If the cocktails aren’t enough to satisfy your sweet tooth, the kaffir lime panna cotta with raspberry coulis and hazelnut praline certainly will.
