Go loco for Mexican fare at Gringo Loco Cantina
If the calibre of a Mexican restaurant can be judged by the quality of its tequila, then you’re in for one amazing Mexican experience at Gringo Loco Cantina in Surfers Paradise. There are 20 different types of tequila on hand to wet your whistle.
Pull up a chair at one of the communal tables or sit back, cocktail in hand and watch the sets roll in as you contemplate which of the Primeros to pig-out on first. If you can handle some heat, the Jalapeno Poppers stuffed with parmesan and herb and the Chorizo Bolas that hold creamy potato, chorizo and chilli jam, will fire up the taste buds. The Estilo Callejero De Maize, char-grilled street-style corn with cilantro crema, queso fresco and fresh lime are also mighty appetising. Gringo Loco Cantina offers a modern twist on the traditional Tex-Mex and features all of your favourites as well as some exciting new additions including braised beef cheek tostaditas and hefty pulled pork burritos that are loaded with slow-cooked meat, Gringo-refried beans, pineapple salsa, apple slaw, queso and Mexican rice. The philosophy when it comes to produce at Gringo Loco Cantina mimics the philosophy when it comes to the liquor, only the finest will do. The ingredients are fresh, locally sourced and there isn’t a can or packet in sight as testament to the venue’s commitment to quality.
