The round-up: mid-week market munchies – where to find food trucks during the week

We heart food trucks. Heck, we’d even go as far as saying we’re a little bit obsessed. If you’re battling the mid-week food truck munchies, then you’ll be happy to know there are plenty of places where you can enjoy a street-side feast during the week. Whether you’re chasing a midday bite or dinner for the clan, here are a bunch of regular food truck stops across the Gold Coast.

Monday & Tuesday
There’s a rad new coffee cart rolling around called Cactus Coffee, so you can get your Monday morning caffeine hit at 159 Varsity Parade from 7:00–11:30 (if you get hooked, you’ll be happy to know that you’ll find them there Tuesdays and Wednesdays too). If you’re up Griffith University way, you’ll find food trucks on campus every Tuesday from 11:00 am. You’ll catch Pappa Rolly’s out the front of Blendlove in Southport from Tuesday nights serving delicious takeaway pizzas and pastas – the bus occasionally gets a call-up for a mid-week function, so be sure to follow Pappa’s whereabouts via social media.

Wednesday
If you see a line outside Bob Jane T-Mart on the highway at Mermaid Beach, they’re certainly not waiting for new rubber – it’s the Barraca goodness that attracts the masses. You’ll find them there from 6:00pm, and on Wednesday’s everything is just $10. Get your Mexican munch on with Siguenos from midday at 31 Township Drive, and then again from 5:30 pm for dinner at World Carpets on Olsen Ave in Labrador. If it’s pizza you’re after, grab a slice from Pappa Rolly’s at Blendlove on Ferry Road on Wednesday nights.

Thursday
Have a midday Mexican street party with Siguenos – they alternate their Thursday lunches between 169 Varsity Parade and 15 Millenium Circuit in Helensvale. You’ll find woodfired Mexican goodness from Zicatela at Southern Cross University from 11:00 am, and rotating food trucks every Thursday from 11:00 am Griffith University’s Gold Coast campus – don’t worry, it’s not just for the scholars! The Barraca truck parks up at Giant Bicycles on Ferry Road from 6:00 pm, perfect for a sneaky dinner to break up the commute home. The Siguenos truck pulls on its brakes at Bob Jane T-Marts on the highway at Mermaid Beach from 5:30 pm, whilst Pappa Rolly’s hangs along Ferry Road serving up mid-week slices of the good stuff (so you know, Pappa Rolly’s is a giant bus … you won’t miss him).

Friday
Have a midday munch at the Uniting Church in Southport – the Barraca truck is there from 12:00 pm. If you’re down Varsity way, you’ll find gangsta food truck Notorious EAT parked up every second Friday at the NBN office building on Varsity Parade. Tasty truck Siguenos parks at The Beach furniture on Bundall Road for Friday lunch from midday, before it heads a little further south for dinner at Kira & Kira in Miami from 5:30 pm. You’ll find rotating food trucks park up at Balter Brewing Co. in Currumbin on Friday afternoons, and Burleigh Brewing Co. also regularly hosts food trucks on Fridays (beer and food truck nosh is the best). The Sanctuary Markets opposite Currumbin Sanctuary also hosts a number of food trucks each Friday night, and you can grab a takeaway pizza or pasta from Pappa Rolly’s out the front of Blendlove in Southport.

Saturday & Sunday
The Balter crew hosts rotating food trucks every Saturday and Sunday. If you’re into barefoot bowls, then you’ll catch a swag of food trucks like Little Wahaca, Food Kartel and JR’s Smokehouse at every second Saturday at The Social Markets at Mermaid Beach Bowls Club. You’ll always find different food trucks at The Village Markets, and you can cap off your Sunday with a beer in hand at Burleigh Brewing Co., where food trucks are regularly hosted. If ice-cream sambos are your jam, then you can indulge your sweet tooth on Sunday afternoon when Boss Bites parks up out the front of Tugun Supermarket from 2:30 pm.
