Get the dish on boujie Yo-Chi, Porsche-inspired pastries and Bali pop-ups
A lot is happening on the Gold Coast (and surrounds) these days, it’s almost too much to keep up with. The Dish is a rapid-fire rundown of the coast’s food news – quick taster-sized tidbits to keep you in the know and, perhaps, tickle your taste buds. This week we’ve got word of boujie Yo-Chi, Porsche-inspired pastries and build-your-own margs.
Yo-Chi x Tarts Anon
Australia’s fastest-growing frozen-yoghurt brand Yo-Chi is teaming up with one of Melbourne’s hottest pastry shops on a taste-bud-tantalising collab. Tarts Anon – the brainchild of Masterchef and Dessert Masters alumni Gareth Whitton and co-owner Catherine Way – has taken the Victorian capital by storm with its cult menu of crust-encased tarts. From Wednesday October 23, all Yo-Chi venues will offer Tarts Anon’s famous smoked pecan and butterscotch tart as a limited-edition addition to Yo-Chi’s signature buffet-style toppings bars. A riff on the classic pecan pie, the treat is composed of butterscotch caramel, pecan frangipane, toasted pecans and a smoky maple syrup glaze – a rich finisher to Yo-Chi’s range of silky soft-serve-style yoghurts. “This tart has real pecans on top and tastes like something out of a high-end restaurant,” says Yo-Chi brand partnerships leader, Ollie Allis. “It might even be one of the boujiest toppings we’ve ever included on the toppings bar.”
