Christmas Day menu all sorted? Go you! Now it’s time to grab the ingredients. Whether it’s summer mangoes for your famous pavlova, cherries to top your trifle or locally made cheeses for your charcuterie spread, you’ll find a kaleidoscope of fresh produce ready to go at these Gold Coast farmers markets, which are all open the weekend before Christmas – from Thursday December 21 to Sunday December 24.
Thursday, December 21
Currumbin Community Market: Keen to get the Christmas food shop done a few days early? Stock up on the best locally grown produce, including spray-free and organic, at this small but mighty market, held opposite the Currumbin RSL (the other side of Duringan Street) from 7:00–11:00 am.
Saturday, December 23
Burleigh Farmers Market: Fill your market totes to the brim with everything from fresh fruit and vegetables through to meats, cheeses and deli items, and do some last-minute Christmas shopping from local makers and antiques stalls. Held at Burleigh Heads State School rain, hail or shine from 6:30 am to 12:00 pm.
Palm Beach Farmers Market: Head to Palm Beach Currumbin High School and stock your fridge up on all of the fresh produce, breads, sweets, and gourmet fine foods you’ll need this Christmas. Grab some fresh flowers while you’re at it! Open 6:00–11:30 am.
Helensvale Farmers Market: You’ll find fresh produce, gourmet food products and a series of street-food vendors slinging goodies to get you through to Christmas Day and beyond at Helensvale State High School from 6:00–11:00am.
Marina Mirage Farmers Market: The popular market will be brimming with everything from fresh produce to artisan goodies to essentials like fresh bread and honey. You’ll find plenty of Christmas treats too, from cakes to classic puddings and more – perfect for your festive spread. Open 6:30 am to 12:00 pm.
Sunday, December 24
HOTA Farmers and Artisan Markets: The early bird gets the pick of the best produce – so roll straight down to HOTA first thing on Christmas Eve to secure your stash of farm-fresh fruits and vegetables, meats, cheeses and gourmet deli items. There will be plenty of tasty food stalls slinging bites for breakfast and brunch, from 6:00–11:30 am.
Lavelle Street Markets: Grab all of your essentials for Christmas Day lunch and fill your fridge with fresh produce from local farmers, grab a bite to eat, and even find handmade wares that will make perfect last-minute Christmas gifts. The popular Nerang market will be heaving from 6:30 am to 12:00 pm.
Gold Coast Organic Market: Prefer certified organic produce this Christmas? The Gold Coast’s only totally organic farmers market (originally at Miami High School) will be loaded with a fresh summer produce for your Christmas break, along with coffee and on-the-go breakfast options. Head to its new location at Merrimac State Highs School on Christmas Eve from 6:00–11:30 am.
Sunrise Farmers Market: Taking over the Dreamworld car park, these relaxed northern Gold Coast markets are flush with fruit, veggies, meat and seafood, as well as gifts, crafts, pantry must-haves like jams and preserves, and even treats for your four-legged friends. The Christmas Eve market runs from 6:00–11:00 am.
