Enjoy a beachfront botanical feast at the Four Pillars Gin Pig Dinner
Australian distiller Four Pillars has teamed up with popular beachfront restaurant Beach Byron Bay for a delicious collaboration that shines the light on gin pigs. Yes, gin pigs. The Four Pillars Gin Pig Dinner is being held on Wednesday April 25 and if you appreciate botanical sips and nose-to-tail dining in unsurpassed seaside locations, then you’ll definitely want to get yourself a seat at the table.
Firstly, let us just clarify what we mean by gin pigs. This particular event involves rare-breed pure black Berkshire pigs, which are sustainably pasture-bred in the Yarra Valley and spend their days nibbling on gin botanicals from Four Pillars‘ distillations. We’re told a diet of juniper berries, coriander seeds, cardamom, star anise, lavender and lemon myrtle gives these porky pigs a very unique taste, which will be showcased in a mouth-watering manner at the Four Pillars Gin Pig Dinner.
Landmark restaurant Beach Byron Bay will be presenting the menu in a respectful, sustainable and totally delicious way by going full nose-to-tail. You’ll enjoy canapes first, then an entree of pork ragu casarecce (free-form pasta) before a spread of suckling porchetta is presented to the table in a share-style setting with sides of local roasted potatoes with rosemary and garlic, and hand-picked leaves with a red-wine dressing. Each course, including the tiramisu dessert, will be perfectly paired with a Four Pillars gin cocktail – plus, a few of the Yarra Valley’s best wines will be thrown in for good measure. Food, gin, wine and absolute beachfront? We’re in.
The Four Pillars Gin Pig Dinner is being held on Wednesday April 25 at Beach Byron Bay at 6:00 pm. Seats are $130 a head and can be booked online.
