Sombreros at the ready! Tex-Mex eatery El Camino Cantina has opened its first Gold Coast location
El Camino Cantina, the vibrant, neon-lit Tex-Mex eatery and bar known for dishing up oversized nachos oozing with cheese and pouring big-as-your-head frozen margaritas (which you’re encouraged to sip while wearing a multi-coloured sombrero), will officially open its first-ever Gold Coast venue today, Wednesday July 22. The eye-popping new arrival, gleaming with neon lights and fluorescent signage, cuts a colourful figure along Town Centre’s The Promenade dining precinct. While our pals in Brisbane and Byron Bay are already well acquainted with El Camino’s Texan-meets-Mexican atmosphere and fiery, crowd-pleasing fare, it’s finally time for us Gold Coast folk to get a taste of the action.
Taking over the former Lord of the Wings space, the coast’s first El Camino is a mammoth addition to the centre’s lakeside restaurant strip, with around 280 seats sprawling the eclectic, colour-dipped inside dining area and the festively lit alfresco area. Joining locations in Bowen Hills, Chermside and down south in Byron Bay, the Robina iteration of El Camino will delight diners with a never-ending fiesta of comforting Tex-Mex eats. First, dig into El Camino’s complimentary (yes) bottomless (not a typo) baskets of tortilla chips and salsa, before perusing the menu to choose your favourite belly-filling bite.
