The singing chef opens De Vito Waterfront in Southport
The Gold Coast’s own singing chef, David De Vito, is back with an exciting new venture, De Vito Waterfront. The venue has taken over the space left by Outback Jacks overlooking the beautiful Broadwater in Southport.
It’s not often that you’ll be out to dinner and the chef pops out from the kitchen to serenade you with an impromptu song or two but that’s precisely what makes De Vito Waterfront so unique. Combining his two great passions – singing and cooking – the new venue is the work of celebrated tenor and Australia’s Got Talent star, David De Vito and his partner Tarscha and offers a Mediterranean dining experience that feels perfectly at home on the Gold Coast. If the sun is shining, grab a spot on the deck and munch your way through a myriad of tapas including Mama’s Meatballs that are made from David’s grandmother’s recipe and fresh South Australian black mussels that are steamed in white wine, Napoli and chilli. If you’re craving something from the sea, share a chilled seafood platter that is loaded with fresh king prawns, oysters, seared sushi-grade tuna, char-grilled baby octopus, smoked salmon and oyster shooters. As the sun sets move in to the main dining area and feast on the house favourite fettuccine De Vito or the duck confit, which is head chef Angela Loftus-Rousseau’s specialty.
Accompanying the extensive selection of fare is an equally as extensive selection of beverages including beer, wine and delicious dessert cocktails. Every hour or when orders permit, David will take a break from his pasta station to treat diners to a song or two and after the last meals have left the kitchen, David and Tarscha take the stage for a few final tunes. Despite the fact that De Vito Waterfront has only been open for a couple of weeks, the venue already has bookings well in advance. For more information or opening times, see our Stumble Guide.
