The bustling Currumbin Creek Road precinct, home to popular spots like Dust Temple, Portside Coffee, Fuel Bakehouse and Refinery Coffee, will welcome a fresh new face this week – The Currumbin Hotel. The venue, formerly The Currumbin Pub (yes, it was known for being a little rough around the edges) has been in operation since 1997, but a shake-up from enthusiastic new ownership has lead to a revival of the site, with Currumbin Hotel to officially open in its place this Thursday March 12.

The venue’s transformation and new identity as Currumbin Hotel warranted a complete gut and rebuild – it’s the first time in 20 years that the site has received any enhancements. So, it’s goodbye sticky blue carpet, TAB and bar seating, and hello to a sleek new timber and terracotta-trimmed bar, and a bright and breezy dining area. Along with an aesthetic overhaul, Currumbin Hotel is also introducing a pub-style menu, which means locals can – for the first time ever – sit down and enjoy lunch (daily) and dinner (Thursday to Saturday). The major works have also made way for new street-side seating and an overhauled tree-lined beer garden for alfresco sips.

The hotel’s menu is designed to please the crowds, with a balance of pub classics, steaks, pizzas, salads and hand-held bar snacks. You’ll find eats like pulled-pork sliders with slaw and spiced apple sauce, a chargrilled beef burger with bacon, cheese and dill pickle, English-style fish and chips with a splash of vinegar, and (of course) everyone’s favourite pub dish – a hearty chicken parmigiana. There’s also bites like garlic prawns with chimichurri and pistachio crumb, spicy chorizo and grilled haloumi with citrus chutney, and a raft of pizzas to choose from (including vegan and gluten-free options). To finish? Chocolate and coffee panna cotta with Danish fairy floss and pistachio dust. Behind the bar, you’ll find local craft beers (including Balter, brewed just across the street) and classics like Melbourne Bitter on tap, as well as a line-up of local gins, spirits and a variety of wines.

Currumbin Hotel will officially open from Thursday March 12, with its opening weekend to feature live music and pop-up bars. For its ongoing opening hours, address and contact details, head over to our Stumble Guide.
