Panchos, Mudgeeraba’s iconic manor of Mexican eats, is back!

If you've been lingering around the coast long enough, it's pretty likely you have a story that involves Panchos. The long-standing Mexican institution originally opened its doors in 1982 and quickly became the place for shredded chicken tacos (hard, obviously, because it wasn't even a choice back in the day), nachos piled high and mighty meaty meals. There was no EFTPOS or phone reception, and good luck getting a taxi to Gold Coast Springbrook Road. That said, the Tex-Mex cantina is lovingly etched in memories as the backdrop for birthdays, celebrations and cerveza-filled get-togethers. If you too have fond memories, go ahead and loosen that belt buckle because Panchos is back, baby! more

Popular sushi-slinger Okazu opens a second outpost in Mermaid Waters

Dishing up Japanese soul food straight out of Osaka, Okazu first stole our collective hearts when it opened along the bustling Nobby Beach strip in 2017 kicking off a long-standing love affair with its amazingly fresh sushi rolls, poke bowls and okonomiyaki. The only downside to the venue's unwavering popularity is that it's not uncommon to find a line out the door. The limited kitchen space also meant that Michie or ‘Mama Michie’, as she’s lovingly referred to, wasn't able to fully flex her culinary muscles as she simply didn't have the space to create. Thankfully (for our tastebuds) the solution presented itself in a tiny takeaway nook nestled in between The Journal Cafe and Lucky Bao in Mermaid Waters Shopping Village. more

Lucia is set to bring a little taste of European dining to Tugun with tapas and top-notch tipples

With the uncertainty we have all felt over the past couple of years, we are all craving, perhaps more than ever before, a sense of connection. There's a kind of intangible sentiment now that every meal with mates is something to savour, a moment to treasure, something to embrace wholeheartedly. In many respects this is a hallmark of the European way of dining, where friends and family while away hours picking at plates of charcuterie with a cocktail or wine in hand, accompanied by raucous laughter and meaningful conversation. This very notion of dining was the inspiration behind Tugun's soon-to-open tapas garden, Lucia. Here's everything we know so far ... more

Prepare to gorge on freshly baked bread, charcuterie and 400 cheeses as Harris Farm Markets opens in Isle of Capri this week!

As much as we love carving out some weekend time to meander from stall to stall at the local farmer's market, it doesn't always align with life's other plans. Plus, there's also the added task of still having to get to the grocery store for pantry staples that you can't readily source at the markets. In news that will thrill local-produce procurers, gourmands and turophiles (fanciers of cheese), the family-owned-and-operated Harris Farm Markets is opening its first store on the Gold Coast this Thursday November 18 and will be a one stop shop for all of your produce and pantry needs. Mermaid’s beloved Apres Surf has ventured south to sling brews and bites in Burleigh Heads

Those who have been kicking around the coast for a hot minute and fancy a frothy are likely to have fond (hazy) memories that involve Apres Surf. The watering hole – nestled between a massage parlour and an Asian grocer in Mermaid Beach – found a loyal following of folk thanks to its refreshingly down-to-Earth approach to brews and bites. Unfortunately, the neighbourhood locale became a casualty of the development wave that is currently surging across the Gold Coast with the entire block set to be transformed into a supermarket. The Apres story, however, does not end there. We're stoked to reveal that Apres Surf has returned in a brand-new Burleigh Heads location. Here's everything you need to know about Apres 2.0 ... more

When you think of Mexican food, chances are your mind begins to imagine plates piled high with nachos, fiery jalapeno poppers and cheesy quesadillas. What you will find, however, is fresh, flavoursome and healthy Mexican-inspired fare with an Asian twist – think tuna sashimi-topped tostadas and hibachi-grilled wagyu with spicy yuzu miso sauce.
