Sip cocktails in the sunshine at the new-look Komune Gold Coast

When COVID-19 reared its ugly head, Komune in Coolangatta (along with the rest of the world) was forced to shut its doors. Instead of sitting around on JobKeeper, owner Tony Cannon rallied the staff, picked up some tools and began giving some of the hotel rooms a little spruce. It began with a lick of paint that eventually rolled into a complete revamp with a little help from their pals at Zero 9 Constructions, who also found themselves at a COVID-related loose end and graciously donated some of their time and expertise. Gold Coast, say hello to Komune 2.0 – a dreamy new poolside bar to soak up the sunshine with a cocktail in hand. more

In good spirits – Hennessy treats hard-working hospo heroes to dinner and drinks

A regular fixture on bar shelves around the world, luxe liquor Hennessy has long been a favourite tipple among seasoned swiggers. In 1992, hip-hop icon Tupac even dedicated a whole song to his love of the brown bottle. To help reciprocate the love, Hennessy is extending a helping hand to the bartenders, waiters and restaurateurs that faithfully serve its spirit. The cognac giant has revealed its hospitality recovery initiative, which is set to provide struggling hospo workers with a free dinner and drinks on them. Now, that's sure to go down a treat. more

Indulge in some of life’s finest at Main Beach’s Oyster Bar & Grill

For more than 30 years, resort-dwellers and seafood lovers have been indulging in some of life's finest at Sheraton Grand Mirage's Oyster Bar. Opening in the late 1980s, the standing-only bar was dedicated purely to oysters, champagne and let's be honest, straight-up 80s decadence. While it has continued to operate relatively under the radar over the years, 2019 was time for it to be transformed into Oyster Bar & Grill –  and while there's still degree of decadence, it's about more than just oysters and champagne now. more
