Nachos to go – California Tacos opens an express outpost at Robina Town Centre
Famous for its mountainous nachos and margaritas on tap, California Tacos was born by the beach in San Diego and has clearly struck a chord with Australian audiences thanks to its modern Mexican flavours with a focus on freshness. With locations in Burleigh Heads, Broadbeach, and more recently further north in Brisbane and Caloundra, the popular taco-slinger has opened an express outpost at Robina Town Centre. Here’s the scoop …
You’ll find the newest California Tacos location at The Kitchens, right next door to Betty’s Burgers. The brand-new express model is loosely inspired by the efficiency of the well-known sandwich model, where the ingredients are prepared fresh daily and made on the spot to order. Kerri Siggs, the franchisee behind this innovative venture, has a wealth of experience with various franchise models and was drawn to California Tacos because of their food, first and foremost, but also the brand’s in-depth understanding of their customer. “We collaborated to create the first express model of California Tacos. We aim to provide flavoursome Cali-inspired Mexican food with a focus on freshness,” Kerri says.
Walking the line between a sit-down restaurant and a fast-food drive-through, the express model is designed to cater to those on the go. Whether you’re on your lunch break or just popping by for a bite on the run, California Tacos Express promises not to keep you waiting. “With this model, we’re creating the cookie-cutter. If we can perfect the operations here, we can expand into other locations,” Kerri explains.
The menu offers a slightly condensed version of the full California Tacos offering, with nachos, tacos, burrito bowls and cheesy quesadillas all on offer. Although the new spot isn’t licensed just yet, there are plans in motion for margaritas on tap, which is guaranteed to make any trip to the shops infinitely more enjoyable.
