Cabukee opens at Emerald Lakes
Residents of Emerald Lakes have another reason to smile following the opening of Cabukee cafe and tapas bar last week. Perched next to Gloria Jean’s Coffees on The Boulevard, the venue is the handiwork of first time restaurateurs Kerry and Gene de Somer.
The rustic timber-clad cafe exudes the warmth of a farmhouse with the trendy trimmings of a chic inner-city cafe, a sentiment that is reflected in the modern Australian menu. Serving up some hearty winter spreads including sweet corn fritters, smashed avocado bruschetta and Spanish omelette that’s loaded with chorizo, red onion, tomato and cheesy goodness, Cabukee has your morning eats more than covered. From 11:00 am, the all-day selection menu takes over and offers the popular garlic and mushroom crostini that is smothered with thick cream cheese and topped with rocket among the selections. On a Thursday, Friday and Saturday evening from 5:00 pm, Cabukee transforms into a trendy tapas bar that offers tastes of marinated chicken skewers, crumbed camembert, smoked chorizo, prawns and bacon-wrapped asparagus. Order a selection of plates or allow the chef’s to plate up something special with the Cabukee Chef’s Selection share platter for two.
The fare at Cabukee is filled with flavour, a reflection of head chef Brett Wriggley’s philosophy for good, honest home-style cooking while the coffee is sourced locally from Kiva Han. Whether you’re in the mood for a quick bite and a coffee, a place to catch up with friends and while away the time or unwind with a Friday afternoon beverage and accompanying cheese board, Cabukee can accommodate.
