Cold brew at home is a piece of cake with Bruer

If you’ve done the rounds of your local haunts only to be told they’re fresh out of cold brew, you’ll appreciate the Cold Bruer that little bit more than most people.

While it may not be as instantaneous as your pod coffee machine, cold brew coffee is naturally sweeter as a result of the wait. Actually, cold brew’s deliciously smooth flavour is partly the result of the longer brew time but also the cold water brewing method that extracts different compounds from the coffee, resulting a completely different flavour profile than coffee that is brewed in hot water.

Using a simple filtration system, the Cold Bruer can make approximately half a litre, which is roughly four cups of coffee, in one hit. The adjustable valve lets you experiment with brew time between three and twelve hours however the recommended brew time is six hours at one drip per second. The process itself couldn’t be easier. Simply pour ice water into the top container and allow it to slowly drip through a bed of coffee leaving your delicious cold brewed goodness in the jug.

Paired beautifully with milk, cold brew coffee is best enjoyed at leisure. While Bruer is an American company, the Cold Bruer is available through Australian stockists including Bombora Coffee and Water Supplies.
