Bruns’ bound – renowned chef brings new dining space Bounty to life in Brunswick heads

Sydney-born ex-Rockpool Bar & Grill chef, former MasterChef finalist and renowned London restaurateur Bonny Porter has unveiled her first Australian dining space, Bounty in Brunswick Heads. Well-known local identity David Lovett (most recently of Byron Bay’s 100 Mile Table and formerly of Sydney’s Uccello) has been appointed head chef for the breezy 80-seat establishment, which overlooks Simpsons Creek.

The concept sees Bounty serve breakfast and lunch seven days, with a more sophisticated dinner service offered from Thursday to Sunday nights. By day, the space will take on a more casual approach – there will be takeaway-style eats like David Lovett’s signature focaccia, Bonny’s famed Swedish cardamon buns, seasonal salads, baguettes, sandwiches and grab-and-go sweet treats like brownie gelato in a waffle cone topped with Persian fairy floss. The dine-in breakfast and lunch menu will feature dishes like white shakshuka eggs with harissa butter, manchego churros with house-made quince paste, and a fried-chicken ssam wrapped in butter lettuce with hot sauce and coriander.

As for the evening trade, it’s all about shared feasting, with the menu (categorised into land, sea, garden and pantry) taking inspiration from Bonny’s time in the UK, while remaining heavily driven by local Northern New South Wales produce. You’ll see mostly Australian wines on the Bounty cellar list, with vegan-friendly and sulphite-free options in the line-up, alongside a concise selection of cocktails. The opening of Bounty marks a triumphant return to the Australian dining scene for Bonny, who recently sold her flagship solo venture – a gourmet meatball restaurant in Soho called Balls & Company – to be back home closer to family and bring her first Australian restaurant to life.

Bounty is located at 2 The Terrace, Brunswick Heads. For contact details and bookings head to the Bounty website.
