Brewing soon – state-of-the-art brewhouse Bobs Beer to bring frothies, eats and good times to Surfers Paradise
While the Gold Coast has remained at somewhat of a standstill, works have been slowly but surely progressing on a new state-of-the-art brewhouse in the heart of Surfers Paradise. Bobs Beer (stands for ‘best of beer’) is a new brewery, taproom and restaurant, which – if the city transitions to post-pandemic times as planned – is set to come to life in late 2020.
Having beers with your pals in an actual bar or pub seems like a distant memory right now. Though, with a bit of luck (and by luck we mean hand washing and diligent distancing) the latter half of 2020 will see our weekends again filled with fun times and frothies with our nearest and dearest – and the team at Bobs Beer are aiming to be ready and waiting when we finally return ‘normal’ social activity. Works are currently underway (albeit at a slow rate) on the Bobs Beer brewhouse site, which occupies the former Louis Vuitton premises on the corner of Orchid and Elkhorn Avenues in the heart of Surfers Paradise.
So, what can we expect? While it’ll depend on what restrictions are still in place when Bobs Beer opens, its restaurant, bar and brewhouse will have capacity for around 150 eager beer enthusiasts and diners, with seating to sprawl indoors and out. Ex-Melbourne brewer Ryan Fullerton has made the move north to oversee the brewhouse and has been tasked with crafting Bobs Beer’s flagship core range, which will be poured fresh from the taps alongside a select series of Australian beers. While details of the restaurant are yet to be announced, we’re told not to expect standard pub grub – rather, a more refined gastropub style of dining. In terms of timing, the Bobs Beer team are aiming to be officially brewing and fine-tuning their first series of beers on-site within weeks, and hope to open the doors around late August, all things considered. As always, we’ll give you an inside look as soon as the taps are pouring – until then, you can jump to Bobs Beer’s Instagram to follow the progress.
