Beyond Meat, the US-based purveyors of futuristic meat-free meat, has expanded its revolutionary plant-based innovation to recreate one Australia’s most loved foods – the humble sausage. It looks, cooks and tastes just like a conventional snag – and it’s now available on the Gold Coast.

Last April, we brought you the news that Beyond Meat had partnered with popular plant-based fast-food institution Lord of the Fries, putting its revolutionary meat-free burger patty on the burger menu. Prior to landing in Australia at Lord of the Fries, the Beyond Meat burger patties were globally recognised and endorsed by celebrities like Leonardo DiCaprio and Bill Gates for their meat-like taste and appearance – they even bleed when you cook them! Now, it’s time for the saus’ to have the plant-based treatment.

The new Beyond Meat sausages, available now at LOTF Surfers Paradise, are made from an assembly of peas, fava beans and rice proteins, and are soy and GMO free. It’s said to look and sizzle just like a regular pork sausage and is offered in three varieties – original bratwurst, sweet Italian and hot Italian. The Beyond Meat sausages are available as a premium upgrade with LOTF’s tasty hotdog range, which includes the Melbourne (cheese, onion and a combo of mustard and ketchup), Chicago (crunchy pickle, relish, peppers and mustard) and the spicy Tijuana (jalapenos, cheese, onion and spicy tomato sauce). For info, head to the Lord of the Fries website.
