The Langham, Gold Coast’s much-loved dining destination Akoya launched its luxurious long-lunch series in October and is gearing up for the second event on Sunday December 3. A perfect way to kick off the festive season, this sizzling Sunday session combines panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean with live entertainment and top-notch coastal cuisine curated by executive chef Matthew Woolford. Focusing on fresh, locally-sourced produce, the menu is brimming with a bounty of tantalising local ingredients, with a particular focus on ocean-caught fare – think freshly shucked oysters, bugs and Northern River’s Australian Bay lobster, which guests can enjoy through share-plate tasting options. “The menu’s suitably local and seasonal, both from the land and the sea – reflecting our overarching commitment to providing sustainable and responsibly sourced cuisine,” says Matthew.
The entire experience is designed to be interactive, with a completely open kitchen that evokes conversation between chef and diner, while showcasing a handful of the menu’s finest ingredient suppliers from within the restaurant’s dining room. In terms of tipples, Akoya has partnered with Burleigh-based booze makers Capricorn Distilling Co., which will offer product tastings throughout the long-lunch experience, while diners can try spirit-laced snacks like the Capricorn Gin & Tonic-inspired Fresh Pacific oysters.
Akoya’s second long lunch is happening on Sunday December 3. To make a reservation, head to The Langham, Gold Coast’s website. Prices are $165 per person.
