Waitangi Day at NightQuarter
NightQuarter is proud to be celebrating everything that is Aotearoa (NZ) this Waitangi Day! What better way to celebrate the significance of the signing of New Zealand’s founding treaty than with a massive line up of music, food and cultural performances inspired by the land of the long white cloud.
You’re invited to sit back in The Paddock with your whānau, enjoy the sounds of The Strides and the Hanlon Brothers and join in the fun with The Koi Boys and The Hula Hut. The melting pot of global sounds with strong New Zealand and Pacific Island influences will be a great experience for Kiwis and Aussies alike!
★ The Strides
The Strides have become a new force for urban roots music. The 8 piece collective of multi-talented songwriters and musicians have delivered their classic sound to crowds across the country, delivering a musical experience that is as powerfully explosive as it is authentic. With two acclaimed albums already under their belt, a European label signing, festival appearances across the country and having graced the stage with the likes of Julian Marley, Tony Allen and Groundation, The Strides’ music faithfully builds on the foundations of classic roots reggae with a hip-hop edge, forging a sound that brings together modern dance hall, world beats and reggae-pop. The Strides have forged a truly global sound melding a diversity of cultures and instrumentation under the one universal consciousness.
★ Hanlon Brothers
The Hanlon Brothers have quickly become a NightQuarter favourite! The Hanlon Brothers is a killer combination of raw talent, versatility and technique. Consisting of nine members – Saia & Omar Hanlon, Mat Saunoa (former NewZealand Idol winner), Wil Sargisson, Aaron West, Jeff Reid, James Feagai, Karl Davis and it’s newest addition MC. Roman Albert. As a testament to their talent they often perform a mixture of tracks from their EP along with songs that are improvised on the spot.
★ The Koi Boys
Eight years ago three New Zealand born, gold coast based entertainers joined forces to become the longest lasting trio group singers at Broadbeach’s venue ‘Koi’. They’re success is attributed to the trio’s ability to combine excellent vocal range with the ability to interact and connect with the crowd using comedy, harmonies, choreography and impersonations. Crowds of all ages leave ultimately amazed!
★ The Hula Hut – Polynesian Show
A culturally interactive, colourful, and funny show, The Hula Hut will take you on a journey to Aotearoa (NZ), Samoa, Cook Islands, Tahiti, and Hawaii. The Polynesian show will have you up and dancing around The Paddock to join in the fun.
