Carrara Markets on the Gold Coast is super excited to host Thomas Dambo, a world renowned artist from Copenhagen, Denmark.

Together with his crew, Thomas will create 3 enormous wooden sculptures at Carrara Markets all completely made from recycled scrap wood, which the markets have collected for Thomas, from old pallets, fencing and timber scraps gathered from around the Gold Coast local area. Thomas loves the use of ‘trash only’ for his projects, in the hope to inspire people to see the beauty in unwanted material and think of ‘trash’ as a fun & creative resource.

Commencing the 9th February, Thomas and his team will be on-site at Carrara Markets bringing life to piles of recycled scrap wood to form 3 large-scale sculpture installations. Each sculpture will depict an iconic Australian animal … one will represent a shark, another a snake and the third a kangaroo. Once built, these installations will be interactive and become sought out tourist photo opportunity destinations.
