Mermaid Beach Bowls Club was the first club in Australia during the 1980s to give the broader community a fun and new opportunity to venture into the game of bowls. Due to a shortage of new members, the club started offering games to non-members and thus the Barefoot Bowls Brigade began. Harnessing the hipsters of the Gold Coast, barefoot bowls it is now an institution around the nation. And now, they’re back.
