The Irresistible at HOTA

The Irresistible is one of the most intoxicatingly creepy plays to ever make its way to HOTA – think Twin Peaks meets Stranger Things! The dark and funny sci-fi-thriller live-theatre performance is hitting HOTA from June 27–29 (straight from Dark Mofo in Hobart!), taking audiences through an unrelenting exploration of unconscious bias and the deep assumptions people make about one another. With strong interrogation into gender and bias, the bold and original play aims to challenge minds throughout the performance.

It’s created by some of Australia’s most innovative theatre makers – combining beautiful design by Jonathon Oxlade with the complex stories of characters familiar in Zoe Pepper’s body of work, complemented by acclaimed performances by Adriane Daff and Tim Watts. The Irresistible has seen great success to-date, winning Best Design in the Performing Arts WA Awards (2017), being nominated for Best Play in the Helpmann Awards (2018) and receiving rave reviews. Special guests, The Huxleys, will offer pre-show entertainment and start The Irresistible journey, with an incredible performance by the art duo, which will escort audiences into the indoors of HOTA’s Outdoor Stage.

Oh, and to make experiencing the show even more irresistible, HOTA is offering ‘Pay Your Age’ ticket prices for those under the age of 30. So, if you are 18 years old tickets cost $18, and if you’re 23 years old – you pay $23. Adults over 30 are $30. For more info, head to the HOTA website.
