THE GUIDE Movie – Ukraine Fundraiser

Head to the newly opened Dendy Cinemas in Southport for A Screens Without Borders Event, where 100% of the box office proceeds will be donated to Ukrainian relief.

On Friday June 17, Dendy will be playing 2014 Ukrainian drama THE GUIDE which focuses on American boy Peter and blind musician Ivan who are thrown together by fate amidst the turbulent mid-1930s Soviet Ukraine.

The story of THE GUIDE takes place in the early 1930s during the Holodomor, or Terror-Famine, when the Soviet regime killed millions of Ukrainians largely by starvation. Several nations have formally recognized the Holodomor as a genocide. American boy Peter and blind musician Ivan are thrown together by fate amidst the 1930’s Russian subjugation of Ukraine. The “Terror Famine” of the 30’s is incredibly current given the attempts of Russia to once again crush the independence and freedom of their Ukrainian neighbour.

Tickets are $19 for adults, with discounts available for students, seniors, children and concessions. Purchase yours via the Dendy website.
