Summer at the Cultural Precinct


Sizzling summer days melt into sultry summer nights… experience Gold Coast’s Cultural Precinct this January with a program of events and activities for all ages.  Set both within the doors of The Arts Centre Gold Coast and out around the picturesque Evandale Lake and Parklands come and connect to your precinct through shows, workshops, great food, live music, dancing, markets and so much more. From Friday 8 through to Sunday January 31.

Fridays feature free live music including Darren Middleton (ex Powderfinger, Friday January 15) and salsa dancing providing a great post-work spot to unwind into the weekend.

Saturdays are great for families – there’s parkrun in the morning, free creative activities after lunch, live music, eats and drinks and at dusk, settle in for a movie on the big screen under the stars.

Sundays start early with the Bundall Farmer’s Markets and then relax into the afternoon with live music from 3:00 pm, complemented by tasty food and beverage offerings.

Highlights:

Live Music Lakeside: Every Friday night, Saturday and Sunday afternoon. Entry is free. This event is guest programmed by local music legend Casey Barnes. Casey himself kicks off the live performances on Friday January 8 from 6:00 pm. The month’s music line-up features a number of well-known local artists. Headlining the program is former Powderfinger lead guitarist and song writer, Darren Middleton on Friday January 15, supported by Casey Barnes. Music starts from 7:30 pm.

Playful Minds: Monday to Saturday, 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm. Entry is free. At Playful Minds kids get involved in free creative activities. Designed to stimulate imagination and connect children to their surrounds, Playful Minds is hosted by an array of local visual artists to guide and inspire young creatives in these drop-in open air workshops.

Pop Up Pictures: Every Saturday evening, at dusk. Entry is free. Grab a rug, your family and friends and enjoy an outdoor movie under the stars. You won’t find a more picturesque location! Complete with your favourite movie food fair on offer from the mobile candy bar.
