See Change Sand Tracks

Giant sand art impressions – rolling out for kilometres along the beach – will inspire you to think about sustainability and our future. Each sand art print responds to a critical issue, be it climate change, human movement, societal shifts, food security, conflict or health. Washed away each day by the tide, this ephemeral creation prompts you to reflect on where we’ve been, where were at and where we’re going.

Find us on the beach at Broadbeach and Surfers Paradise

Emerging, experimental, speculative, critical and future oriented. See Change Sand Tracks sees the rolling out of giant sand art prints using a tractor and walking rollers along three kilometres of beach between Broadbeach and Surfers Paradise. The sand prints feature responses to future challenges such as the changing climate and food security. These responses have been explored by the public during workshops with Relative Creative and autonomously via a tailor made interactive online digital platform, to help create artwork ‘blocks’ that showcase participant’s responses, some of which will be featured as sand art imprints ‘rolled out’ along the beach.

See Change Sand Tracks Workshops, Kurrawa Park

See Change Sand Tracks Workshops will be held at the Kurrawa Park festival site on the same four days that the See Change Sand Tracks art will appear on the beach. At these pop-in workshops you will be able to explore the digital platform and create your own Futures Map in sand using a purpose built sand tray.
9:00 am to 12:00 pm

Yarning Circle, Broadbeach Beach

The Yarning Circle is a lo-fi space on the beach, alongside the art on the beach; a place where the artists, Relative Creative will talk about the project alongside conversations with invited guests and questions from participants. Nearby, people will be able to use the walking rollers to roll out additional Futures Maps along the beach.
9:00 am to 12:00 pm.
