Repair Cafe Gold Coast

Repair Café is a free community event that brings together volunteers skilled in repair and mending to fix household items that are brought in by members of the community. The skilled repairer works with the owner of the goods to help them fix their item, whilst sharing skills and knowledge in the art of repair – often over a cup of tea or coffee.
Items repaired are varied however usually include; clothing and textiles, electronics and electrical items, toys, bicycles, fashion/costume jewellery, tools, kitchen gadgets and virtually any household item that can be carried in.
There are over 2000 Repair Cafes around the world and this number is actively growing as people embrace a more sustainable way of living, aim to keep their gear in use for longer and out of landfill and enjoy the chance to make new friends and build connections in their community.
There is no cost for the repair work, however spare parts are the owner’s responsibility.
We throw away vast amounts of stuff, even things with almost nothing wrong, and which could get a new lease on life after a simple repair. The trouble is, lots of people have forgotten that they can repair things themselves or they no longer know how. Repair Café changes all that, but most of all, Repair Café just wants to show how much fun repairing things can be and how easy it often is.

Hosted by the Gold Coast Tool Library Inc. A not-for-profit community sharing platform.
