Native Bee Encounter Workshop

Native Bee Encounter Workshop

Did you know that there are more than 1500 species of native Australian bees? Join the team at Biome for an engaging workshop with Kathy from Gold Coast Amateur Beekeepers Society where you’ll take a look inside a live native bee colony and learn more about our wonderful bee life.

During the workshop you’ll venture into another world inside a stingless social bee colony, observing the unique hive architecture and tasting the special sugar bag honey produced.

You’ll also have some fun with sensory analysis, as used by sommeliers, to taste and evaluate honey like an expert. Describing delicious honey and discerning its amazing flavour profile is easier and heaps more fun than you might think.

You’ll learn about what you can do at home to support bee life in your own backyard and then make your own natural seed bombs to attract pollinators and beneficial insects to your garden.
