Life Drawing at HOTA – Priscilla Queen of the Desert – Special Session
Come and sketch two beautiful Queens, ‘Martini Ice’ and ‘Chocolate Boxx’, inspired by Australian movie royalty, Priscilla Queen of the Desert. We are joined by four-piece string band, The Hugo Weavers, as they play all our favourite Priscilla musical moments and many more.
Take the opportunity to frock on, draw, draw, draw, enjoy the live music, treat yourself to something from the bar, and capture the models and musicians in an in-the-round setting.
Due to popular demand, this larger-than-life drawing session will be held in the Paradise Showroom with extended capacity.
This Life Drawing Session supports the exhibition Starstruck: Australian Movie Portraits, on display in the HOTA gallery from March to April 28, and the Gold Coast Film Festival from April3 3-14. The exhibition features the original Thong Dress from Priscilla Queen of the Desert, plus iconic imagery and stills from the film.
Musicians
The Hugo Weavers – musical chameleons of the Gold Coast, they have been known to weave through genres like Agent Smith weaves through the matrix. Usually, they are found performing with gypsy jazz band Cigany Weaver, but when they go into Hugo mode, you can expect anything from Mariachi music, country and western or disco.
