Kerry O’Brien in conversation with Barrie Cassidy – Byron Bay Writers Festival
The Byron Bay Writers Festival presents Kerry O’Brien on Paul Keating – the visionary, reformer, true believer, rabble rouser and our most intriguing Prime Minister on Wednesday November 11. Building on the transcripts of the must-watch television event of 2013 ABC TV’s Keating: The Interviews O’Brien has gathered an enormous bank of new material for what is surely the most anticipated political book of the year. Keating is being billed as a “collaborative biography” and the nearest we will get to an autobiography or memoir by the former Treasurer and Prime Minister. Kerry O’Brien captures the hallmarks of the man -the nimble mind, the wit, the sweep of vision, the ruthlessness and the stubborn drive for power -as Keating explains the historic events, back room stoushes and moments of drama and pathos that the political world inevitably holds.
