Interwoven – Marks on the Land, Marks on the Body

Interwoven – Marks on the Land, Marks on the Body

A collective burst of global Indigenous unity stirs the sand, envisioned through years of research into cultural processes by Joy Aroha, Jagun Land People, I Moving Lab and I Land.

A 90-minute performative activation of mixed cultural expressions set within a demarcated circular installation of ochred woven fibrous networks happens at the side of the Surfers Paradise Main Stage at dusk.

Assembling a 50-strong collective of international, intercultural and interdisciplinary cultural practitioners, Interwoven – Marks on the Land Marks on the Body is an ambitious undertaking that invites participants and onlookers to find convergence – within the meeting place between salt water country and sky, as Pacific undercurrents connect continents to islands, revitalised by our songs, dances and potential.

A stunningly unique collaboration of multi-voices and bodies, the performance platforms include: Interwoven art forms , Indigenous contemporary dance, native American drumming and much more. This is a truely remarkable celebration of community values, expression and creative event that is not to be missed.
