Gold Coast Chinatown is set to come alive with colour, cuisine and cultural entertainment when we celebrate the inaugural Chinese New Year Festival.

This event marks the new lunar year in the Chinese calendar and celebrates the Year of the Goat. The festival throws open the gates of the new Gold Coast Chinatown and provides a place where the local community, international students and visitors can come together to share unique cultural and dining experiences.

A highlight of the festival will be the Asian Food Market, where you can enjoy a multicultural feast under the stars with live entertainment. The streets will be transformed into a delicious and inspiring cultural bazaar right in the heart of the CBD.

The program includes free live music, lion dancing, cultural workshops – lantern painting, calligraphy – roving entertainment, outdoor cinema, traditional performances and interactive activities with fun for the kids. The sky will come alive with a firework display at 9pm.

This festival welcomes everyone to celebrate our local multicultural community. Due to unfavourable weather conditions, the festivities have been moved to next Saturday February 28.
