Chinese New Year at Sanctuary Cove

Sanctuary Cove will come alive with colour and cultural entertainment as The Marine Village welcomes the Year of the Dog with a host of vibrant performances and activities from February 16–18. The sky will light up in a kaleidoscope of colour on Friday night and there will be roving performances and traditional lion dancing on both Friday and Saturday evenings. With highly embellished, bold costumes and the accompaniment of bells and drums, the rhythmic traditional Chinese dance is performed to bring good luck, fortune and drive away evil spirits.

The celebrations will conclude on Sunday when everyone, from children to adults, will have the chance to immerse themselves in Chinese culture as The Marine Village bustles with activities including calligraphy, lantern painting, face painting and a giant jumping castle.

Lovers of authentic Chinese cuisine won’t want to miss out on a seat at the annual Dragon Cove Chinese Restaurant’s Chinese New Year Banquet. Take your tastebuds on a culinary journey with a myriad of traditional dishes such as steamed fish with ginger and shallots, and black pepper eye fillet. The sumptuous eight-course banquet is just $78.00 per person.
