Burleigh Surf:Craft

Gold Coast surfing enthusiasts won’t want to miss Burleigh Surf:Craft, a free community event celebrating hand made surfboards at Burleigh Brewing on Saturday April 4.

Running from 3:00-8:30 pm, join hosts Jed Smith and Vaughan Blakey as they showcase some of Australia’s finest surfboard craftsmanship. They’re bringing the community together to talk story, demonstrate surfboard builds and make some noise about the proud history of creativity and innovation that defines the Australian surfboard industry. Shapers attending the event will be in the running for the Burleigh Surf:Craft bursary awards with a combined prize pool of $5,000 for the People’s Choice Award and Judges Choice Award. These awards will be judged by 2019 winners Dale Wilson and Yoshie Takeda, local legend Richard Harvey and Surfworld Patron Peter Harris. There are also prizes up for grabs for voters, including a Takeda Customs hand made 70s inspired surfboard.

With over 1,100 people attending the 2019 event, the 2020 Burleigh Surf:Craft promises to be a great day of hand crafted surfboards, entertaining talks, surf movies and delicious Burleigh craft beer.
