Bobby Alu and the Palm Royale Grooves

Groove along to Bobby Alu and the Palm Royale as they share their Pacific beats, catchy tunes and powerful log drumming at Bond University’s first ‘Live at Bond’ free concert for 2017 on Sunday, April 2, presented as part of Bleach* Festival.

Gold Coast local Bobby Alu and his Queensland-based band will take the stage in his hometown following an Australia-wide tour. Inspired by his Polynesian heritage, Bobby Alu gained a groundswell of fans across Australia and internationally after spending three years travelling the globe as Xavier Rudd’s drummer.

He will be joined by his charismatic band the Palm Royale – Paulie B, Stewart Barry, Richy Seymour, Hua Hillman and Robin Cummins – who have showcased their talent around Australia since performing their first show at the 2011 Byron Bay Blues Fest.

Bond University Bachelor of Laws and Journalism student, Braydon Poacher, who will be supporting Bobby Alu and the Palm Royale has been performing for more than six years, has already featured in television advertisements, been broadcast on radio and performed for Molly Meldrum at a charity event in 2013.

Live at Bond kicks off with Braydon Poacher at 3:00 pm on Sunday April 2, followed by Bobby Alu and the Palm Royale from 3:45 pm. The performance is a free, all-ages event and will be held at Bond University’s ADCO Amphitheatre.

Following the show, guests are encouraged to wander down to Varsity Lakes to catch Bleach* Festival’s Varsity Daze installation entitled Fantastic Planet, by visual artist Amanda Parer.
