Bleach* Festival

Unless you’re new to the coast or you’ve been living under a rock, you’re probably well familiar with Bleach* Festival. For those who aren’t, well, allow us. Bleach* Festival is proudly and passionately Gold Coast and pays tribute to local legends past and present. In 2018, the program delivers an incredible line-up of genre-defying events, spanning intimate gatherings in locals’ homes to some of the festival’s most ambitious (and possibly a little bit crazy) projects to date.

For three weeks, form March 29 to April 15, Bleach* Festival will stage 140 events and activities including 10 world-premiers, one Australian premier and two Queensland premiers. In this landmark year, Bleach* Festival has also collaborated with Festival 2018 to pull off a program that will truly capture hearts, minds and imaginations.

Some of Bleach* Festival 2018’s highlights include The Spirit of Churaki, which is inspired by the incredible true story of the Gold Coast’s first surf life saver, and Rimini Protokoll’s boundary-pushing Home Visit, which invites 10 every-day locals to open their private homes to complete strangers for a series of intimate living room performances. Meanwhile, Wave Fields compels you to get out of your comfort zone and sleep on the beach immersed in a blanket of sound and Quiet by Nature summons you to enjoy a moon-lit paddle in Currumbin Estuary. TIDE sees two fearless performers put themselves at the mercy of both the tide and the compassion of the community as they set up an office on a sand bar at Currumbin Estuary for 49 consecutive hours and The Ninth Wave, well, let’s just say it’s the party to end all parties. And if foodie events float your boat, Feast on Fifth is happening on March 31.
