Backbone by Gravity & Other Myths at HOTA

Backbone by Gravity & Other Myths at HOTA

See the limits of strength — physical, emotional, individual and collective — tested in Backbone, a live performance coming to HOTA on Thursday 2 and Friday 3 April.

Staged with a deceptively DIY aesthetic and dispensing of trickery and distraction, this is circus that goes straight for the jugular and leaves no viewer unmoved. Backbone is the culmination of all that’s gone before, a celebration of human connectedness and the meaning of strength with a conceptual brilliance that elevates this kind of performance to a new level.

The show is the work of Gravity & Other Myths (GOM), an internationally renowned circus company pushing the boundaries of contemporary circus. Formed in Adelaide, Australia in 2009, GOM has rocketed to stellar acclaim with a series of disarmingly accomplished ensemble works. GOM’s work utilises an honest approach to performance to create shows with a focus on human connection and acrobatic virtuosity.

Presented by Bleach* The Gold Coast Festival, audiences can see Backbone at 11:00 am or 7:30 pm on April 2 or 7:30 pm on April 3. For bookings and more information, head to HOTA’s website.
