Australian Street Entertainment Championships

Australian Street Entertainment Championships

Now in its eighth year, the Australian Street Entertainment Championships (ASEC) will once again transform Surfers Paradise into a multi-stage festival of dynamic entertainment, as Australia’s leading street performers dazzle and delight thousands of spectators across four days this Easter long weekend.

This free, family-friendly event is expected to draw more than 350,000 people to the precinct and features high-energy performances from both professional and amateur entertainers, showcasing their eclectic skills across the cultural spectrum, from acrobatics, dance and music, to magic, comedy and more.

This year’s feature act is back by popular demand, with international circus stunt act Globe of Death performing three daily shows in the heart of Cavill Mall and sees stunt motorcyclists perform death-defying manoeuvres at high speeds inside a giant, four-metre sphere of mesh.

Visitors will be kept enthralled by a packed daily schedule of world-class shows across three major pitches from professional street entertainers, and will then want to stay on to enjoy an extraordinary improvised show, crafted into a unique format each night to showcase the audacious energy and talent of the artists in a dazzling and cohesive display.

ASEC also provides a platform for up-and-coming stars, as local amateur street performers battle it out to be crowned the 2017 Australian Street Entertainment Champion.
