Air Play at HOTA

Set to bring the stage to life, this impressive performance has captivated audiences around the globe and will take its viewers on a magical circus-style adventure, providing bold reminders of childhood and growing up. Featuring clowns, balloons which have a mind of their own, confetti that turns into the night sky and so much more, the visual poem was devised after years of experimentation by the husband and wife duo, Seth Bloom and Christina Gelsone. The Acrobuffos, who present sophisticated image-driven, completely wordless, comedic performances, are not your typical clowns – they are artists and surrealists, whose shows are unforgettable and renowned around the world. The pair collaborated with celebrated air sculptor, Daniel Wurtzel, to create the incredibly unique performance that incorporates simple materials, movement and technology, and features elements of comedy, sculpture, circus and theatre. With no translation required, Air Play has been seen on 5 continents by 150,000 people, and presented in places like the southernmost opera house in the world, Teatro del Lago in Chile, to London’s Royal Festival Hall, Melbourne’s Arts Centre and Shanghai’s Grand Theatre.
