From boozy (bottomless) brunches to seriously sassy trivia – unmissable events happening at Southport Sharks this March

Sayonara summer and hellooooo autumn. We don’t know about you but we are very ready for the mercury to drop a degree or two but fret not friends, just because the season has changed doesn’t mean the party has to come to an end. In fact, things are still cooking at Southport Sharks with a hot-as-hell line-up of events to keep you occupied throughout March with everything from boozy (bottomless) brunches to gigs galore and even some seriously sassy trivia. Yes, folks, the fun has just begun and we’ve singled out a few of our favourites to lure you off the couch and away from Netflix.

Bottomless Brunch at Aviary Rooftop Bar, Saturday March 14
Aviary’s famed Bottomless Brunch is back, baby! Sip free-flowing Prosecco or be totally extra with a custom spritz whilst devouring delicious brunch-style pizzas loaded with chorizo, mushroom, egg and crispy maple bacon (yum!). Fancy a little something sweet? Make a pit-stop at the doughnut wall (yes, really) or stop in at the grazing station loaded with brunch bites like breakfast sliders, Belgian waffles, fresh fruit, bircher pots and yoghurt jars. Gather the crew and do Saturday the right way! Tickets are $49 per person and if past events are anything to go by, this will sell out – so be quick to get your tickets here. Ps. Despite its name, pants must be worn. Sorry.

Drag Queen Trivia at Aviary Rooftop Bar, Tuesday March 17
Hot-on-the-heels of the Aviary’s sold-out Drag Queen Bingo series comes the titillating new trivia show from the one and only Natasha St. James! Abandon inhibitions and test your knowledge in four rousing rounds with Natasha and her fabulous sidekick Mz Violet Velvet on Tuesday March 17 to win some seriously excellent prizes. It’s $10 per person and if we’re judging from the overwhelming response from the bingo events, this trivia night will sell-out fast so you may want to jump over here to nab a ticket.

Live, loud and free music and entertainment, all throughout March
There are plenty of opportunities to let your hair down and gyrate to the beat of live bands this month – and it’s all free! Immerse in the raspy vocals of blues and rock outfit Mason Rack Band on Friday March 13, then step back to better times with the Creedence Clearwater Revived Tribute Show on Friday March 20. If you’re a fan of INXS, you won’t want to miss the Inexcess tribute band on Friday March 27, followed the next night (March 28) by rambunctious Byron Bay rock group The Feramones. Head into Cabana Bar & Lounge for a bite and a cocktail (or two) first, then get ready to dance! All of the shows are held at the Sharks’ Main Stage – to view the full entertainment calendar for March, head here.

Bev and Bites at Cabana Bar & Lounge, Thursdays from 4:00 pm
Let’s be honest, Thursday is practically the weekend so slink in to a private booth and partake in a leisurely feast of waffle fries topped with smokey pulled pork, crispy bacon and chipotle mayo, karaage-chicken poppers, Thai-style chicken skewers and tandoori-spiced cauliflower ‘wings’ for just $12 a plate, yes, you read right. $12. Thirsty? Well, you’re in luck. There is also a mighty tempting selection of shared cocktails for $16. The Strawberry Colada Kettle with Ketel One vodka, Malibu, Bacardi white rum, fresh strawberries, pineapple juice and cranberry juice is like a holiday in a glass, or for a refreshing drop, try the Pimm’s with lemonade, strawberries, mint, lime and cucumber. Scoot here to view the full Bev & Bites menu and to book a table or cabana. Cheers to Thursdays!

Gins & Tins Sunday Sessions at Aviary, Sundays from midday
If the name Gins & Tins doesn’t perfectly sum up our ideal Sunday, we don’t know what will. Each week a different local musician, including the sensational Ella Fence (pictured), will grace Aviary Rooftop Bar from 2:00 pm with a series of acoustic scores to set the scene while you make very important decisions like what to drink and nibble. Speaking of, there will be $15 pizzas on offer as well as spritzes from Brookie’s Gin and beer from Pirate Life. Plus, there will also be some giant board games on hand so you can dominate your mates. The music line-up for March kicks off with Tayla-Lee on March 1, then Ella Fence on March 8, acoustic classics by Paulie on March 15, Eleea Navarro on March 22, then Benny Hanna on March 29. What’s that saying about a Sunday well spent?
