Heads up frothy fiends – Australia’s first virtual beer festival is happening

As the legendary Bob Dylan once mused, the times they are a-changin’ and change they have. If you’ve been missing afternoons down at your local and beer-fuelled festivities, you aren’t alone but we have a snippet of good news to help ease some of the pain. Heads up frothy fiends, Australia’s first virtual beer festival is happening on Friday June 5 so go ahead and clear your calendar.

In addition to everyone else on the planet, local breweries took a heavy hit when Covid-19 restrictions forced their closure. Not ones to stand idly by, the legends at The Beer Run have come up with a way to have a little fun and support local breweries in the process. Beer lovers, you’re cordially invited to come together in isolation for Australia’s first virtual beer festival! The event will take place in living rooms around the country on Friday June 5 from 6:00–10:00 pm Sydney time and there will be back-to-back beer tastingsQ&A sessions and live comedy to help you remember what life used to be like back when Corona was just a beer.

So, how does it work? Glad you asked! Ticket holders will receive a selection of craft beers in advance and live-stream the festival at the designated time. You can hop in between virtual ‘tents’ the way you would at a festival back in the day and possibly best of all, there’s no need to find your way home afterwards! For now, the participating breweries are being kept under wraps but a tasting list will be revealed prior to the event so you can stock up in preparation. Tickets start just $15 for the festival pass alone or $45 for a case of six craft beers. Keen to head along? Jump over here to nab yourself a ticket.
