Fillies, RNB Fridays and sake flights – add these sizzling events to your summer bucket list

Can you believe it? We are already nearing the halfway mark of summer! If you’re keen on injecting a dose of good ol’ fun into your calendar in the form of magical race days, sultry Sunday sessions and spritz-filled soirees, we have an idea on where you should spend the rest of the balmy season …

The weather’s warm, live melodies fill the air and refreshing cocktails that are sure to hit the spot are within your reach. This is the scene you’ll be met with at The Star Gold Coast, which is brimming with killer events this summer. This Saturday January 15, punters will be able to to kick on at Garden Kitchen & Bar following the biggest raceday the coast has seen all summer – The Star Gold Coast Magic Millions Raceday. The entertainment will launch with a killer DJ set from James Canning, followed by a performance from electronic-pop princess Nicole Millar before electronic dance music duo CHOOMBA hits the stage. Spend the next day soaking up the sun on The Lawn at the ultimate Sunday session from 12:00 pm, with McKenzie Band serenading you whilst you snack on a grazing platter as part of Graze on The Lawn. Think pillowy breads, crispy crackers and an array of delights to pile them high with like cheeses, olives and charcuterie meats.

Lovers of live music will continue to be treated with a roster of riveting acts on the cards for the rest of the season. Weekends are guaranteed to be taken up a notch at the reinvigorated RNB Fridays Club. From 5:00 pm every week, you’ll be dancing the night away under the stars at Garden Kitchen & Bar, thanks to old-school tunes supplied by Vybez. The party will be pumping on Friday January 28 when hip-hop-spinning DJ Paris Lawrence hits the decks to play some of your favourite dance-floor numbers. The gigs keep coming and they don’t stop coming – Saturdays are filled with bangin’ beats with Kid Kenobi locked in for January 22 and Teddy Cream set to play January 29. Plus, Garden Kitchen & Bar has recently added an awning to The Deck, which means that party will be pumping on The Lawn rain, hail or shine!

Keen to continue sipping and snacking? Choose your own adventure at the Rosé Your Way session on Saturdays and Sundays, which allows you to purchase a Rosé Passport and make your way around four of The Star’s venues, sipping on a glass of the pink-hued drop at each spot alongside a perfectly paired snack. For mouth-watering Italian bites and zesty Aperol cocktails, make tracks to Cucina Vivo, which is taking things to a whole new European-inspired level this summer as part of breezy terrace celebration Cin Cin. Expect refreshing spritzes, melt-in-your-mouth eats (hello, arancini) and DJ tunes on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Sake sippers can enjoy a tasting of Japan’s finest drops at Kiyomi Bar’s Sake Flight Tasting. It’s the ideal way to kick off your night and wet your whistle before dinner, or to finish the evening on a sake-soaked high note.
